TIC members have taken part in case studies, office visits, workshops, challenges and recruitment initiatives with organisations across finance and consulting. Our teams also analyse companies, stocks and sectors proposed by partners, then present and defend the work. If you are considering the same, there are three ways in.

Office visits, public case studies at IST, and the club's Investment Banking department presenting its analysis directly to Iberis for professional feedback. Iberis has also shared analyst openings with TIC members.

Engaged with TIC since 2023, culminating in the 5² Challenge: five days, five challenges inside the Global Markets Front Office. TIC took 1st place against ISEG, Nova SBE, Faculdade de Economia do Porto and ISCTE in November 2024.

TIC was the first engineering school invited to the CFA Research Challenge and reached the national final in both years it competed, presenting at Euronext Lisbon in its first edition. In 2026, CFA Society Portugal held its first-ever workshop at IST through TIC.

One of the oldest private equity firms in Portugal, now owned by the US hedge fund Davidson Kempner. TIC was one of a small number of student clubs invited to a closed session, with places allocated on CV so ECS could identify candidates for interviews.

A European leader in vertically integrated alternative asset management, specialising in credit and real estate, with €112 billion under management. TIC members visited the Lisbon offices to see how portfolios sourced from banks and financial institutions are acquired and run.

Financial literacyWorking together
Every format below is one the club has already run. TIC is a student club, not a consultancy: there is no fee, and what you get is the work of engineers who chose finance.
A team of TIC members works a real problem you set and presents the answer back, at your office or on campus. Formats have run from a single afternoon with a Q&A to a five-day competition.
BNP Paribas ran the 5² Challenge across five days inside its Global Markets Front Office, where TIC placed first against ISEG, Nova SBE, Faculdade de Economia do Porto and ISCTE. Bain, McKinsey, BCG, Oxy Capital and Iberis Capital have each run case studies with the club.
A session on campus, open beyond TIC to the wider Técnico student body. The club handles the room, the promotion and the turnout.
CFA Society Portugal held its first workshop at IST through TIC. BPI Gestão de Ativos spoke on financial literacy to a public audience, and Iberis Capital and Oxy Capital have each run open sessions on campus.
You propose the company, stock, sector or question. A TIC team researches it and presents the analysis for your feedback, the same way it would defend an internal thesis.
The Investment Banking department has analysed a company proposed by Iberis Capital, while a separate project with Oxy Capital followed the same format, ending in company analysis and a stock pitch. TIC teams also publish equity research, sector and macro analysis, and quantitative work in the TIC Journal.
