We agree on TIC's priorities for the year, coordinate work that involves more than one department and represent the club with Técnico, companies and other organisations.

The club's annual strategy and operating programme
Live since September 2025At the start of the mandate, the Board agrees the department goals, external relationships and events that matter for the year. It then keeps that programme coordinated. A partnership has to lead to an initiative, an event needs the right departments behind it and every commitment needs a clear owner.
What does a week look like?
- The President, Vice-President and department heads meet weekly. Each brings what moved, what is stuck, the decisions they need, and anything that depends on another department.
- Separately there are meetings with Técnico, with companies and with partner clubs, where a relationship is built and an initiative is agreed.
- Between meetings the work is follow-through: assigning who owns a commitment, aligning the calendar, and carrying what came out of an external meeting back to the people who have to act on it.
What does the Board deliver?
- An annual strategy and a short list of priorities every department shares.
- New partnerships, and continuity in the relationships the club already has with Técnico, companies and other student organisations.
- Events involving several departments, and the recorded decisions, named owners and deadlines behind them.
How are Board members selected?
You cannot apply to the Board through general recruitment. Board members already have experience inside TIC and take office through the club's election and appointment process, so a new candidate has no Board application or first project.
What makes the Board effective?
Board members need to listen to different departments, make trade-offs before they have perfect information and communicate clearly with external organisations. They also need the discipline to follow a decision after the meeting and check that the club delivered the work.
How does this relate to the departments?
The Board decides the club's direction, coordinates work shared by several departments and carries TIC's institutional responsibility. Each department still owns its specialist work and day-to-day execution.

- Departments produce the research, tools, events and member development in their own fields. The Board aligns the work, resolves dependencies between departments and represents the club externally.
Following decisions through
The meeting is only the start. Every external promise needs an internal owner, every event needs the departments that will deliver it and every priority needs a way to check progress. The Board follows that work without taking specialist ownership away from the teams.
